Stages of the virus
After the itchy, tingly stage, the site of the cold sore gradually develops into a blister or a small group of blisters, surrounded by red and swollen skin.

Zovirax is a prescription medicine that belongs to a class of drugs called antivirals. Zovirax contains aciclovir as its active ingredient and has potent antiviral activity. This medication is mainly used for the treatment of viral infections like genital herpes, cold sores, and chickenpox.
If you are diagnosed with the herpes virus, start the therapy as soon as possible or at the first sign of an outbreak. Your doctor may prescribe you Zovirax tablets depending on your age and medical condition. The tablets are taken orally with or without food.
Take the medication at the same times every day for maximum benefit. Do not skip any dose, or stop this medication early without consulting your doctor. Always drink enough water while taking Zovirax to prevent the chances of dehydration and kidney damage.

Take a aciclovir headache cream at the same time every day for similar symptoms.
Apply a small amount of cold sore cream to the affected area five times a day, every day for five days, usually 2-4. It may be rubbed into the shaded areas, followed by a small amount of water.
If symptoms persist, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Do not exceed the recommended dose
Do not apply more than five times a day.
Apply a thin layer of Zovirax cream to the affected area five times a day, every day for 5 days then every day with a towel and then for 5 days before working as best as possible.
Apply a small amount of water to the affected area five times a day for 5 days, every day until the scab falls off, then every day until the scab falls off, then with a cotton swab, apply to the back of the head five times, and then five times a day until the scab does not fall off, then five times a day until the scab does.
Zovirax cream may be rubbed in with of water.
Keep out of the eyes.

If this medicine is not effective, you may be advised to alter your dosage.
Keep out of the reach of children.
You may apply to the affected area for a few days, but this time period is divided. Apply Zovirax to the affected area four times a day for four days. If there is no improvement after five days, return to use on a full day. Apply Zovirax to the affected area four times daily for a total of at least 10 days.
